Ryan is well respected by his young students and uses a quiet method of instruction in the classroom. "I enjoy the work and the students know that I like 'em and that I'm there to help them if they need anything." A first grade parent once asked Ryan why he was doing this job, "Are you some kind of weirdo?" Ryan has encountered people who are suspicious of men who choose to work with young children and fights against the stereotype whenever it arises.
