  • Boxcars flash past with an ear-piercing squeal. Jack Conroy, author of “The Disinherited” described this as “a fearsome region with engines snorting and darting here and there, cars banging and moving about on every hand.” The old roundhouse, no longer standing, was able to service 28 engines at once.
