  • Everyone Loves Kenny
  • The 58th Missouri Photo Workshop / MPW.58
  • The painting on Kenny Adair's bedroom wall reflects the child inside his 56-year-old body. A young boy gazes dreamily at a train just like Kenny does everyday in Moberly, Missouri. His childlike persona is the result of a disability called aphasia that Kenny has had since birth. After living in downtown Moberly for most of his life, he recently moved in with his sister Connie Prather eight miles outside of town. Prather now tends to Kenny's work and busy social schedule along with his medications. She's like his mother now, tending to his needs, and maintaining his involvement with the local community. Firefighters, college athletes, and disabled coworkers are his best friends. They are the ones who love him and have learned to understand him despite his language disability.
