  • The O’Shea family, like nearly all their fellow congregants at Rockport Baptist Church, homeschool their children, an important facet of the family’s Christian life. Parents Sara and Jason, in their early Thirties, and their four children, Zion, Abigail, Caleb and Magdalene are devout Christians. “If you are going to call yourself a Christian you should live for Christ,” Sara O’Shea believes. Sara, who never completed high school, teaches her children math, science, history and language arts alongside the family’s religious beliefs.

Despite spending most of her time at home with her children, Sara is very connected to the greater homeschool community. She blogs, hosts a bible study group and spends hours surfing the Internet. Sara admits, “We’re a pretty nerdy bunch around here.” The kids are not isolated from the outside world however. Their Wii, the local Dairy Queen and Sponge Bob all compete for attention with their religious studies.
