  • Sybill Scheffer grew up in the restaurant business. Her parents owned and ran a family restaurant, as did her grandparents before them. Sybill didn't think she wanted to continue the tradition when she was younger, but now happily runs a restaurant with her husband, Eddy Tauk. The restaurant, "Sybill's St James" created a new culture and cuisine for St James, and residents and visitors alike have responded with enthusiasm for the new establishment.

Sybill's parents, Janet and Tom Scheffer, came out of retirement to help build and run the restaurant. Sybill, who grew up in the area, moved back to St James from St Louis, during the construction of their new building. Leaving the restaurant business in St Louis, Eddy followed her a few months later, and proposed to Sybill. They now live upstairs, above the restaurant to which they dedicate much of their lives.

As customers enter the restaurant, Sybill is usually there to greet them, while Eddy is most likely found in the kitchen, where he fills many roles, from chef to manager. Janet and Tom both support the young couple and the new business. Tom was the chef in his and Janet's restaurant, Zeno's, in the next town down the freeway until they sold it several years ago. He now works a few days a week in the new restaurant, as does Janet. They also have an arts and antique store, which sits in front of the new building.
