  • Although he considers himself semi-retired, Chuck Haney, 70, still keeps himself busy. A life-long resident of the city, he was elected as the city’s mayor in April. Haney sees the community as a place with great potential for growth.

During the day, Haney spends his time on official duties in the city, working on business development plans, chatting with residents, and picking his grandchildren up after school. Through everything it’s clear that he has a love for the place that he calls home. “When my wife died everyone told me not to feel sorry for myself. They told me to stay active, and God willing I will,” says Haney.

Chuck Haney reads the morning newspaper with his cat, Pepper at his home. “I don’t spend much time here because it’s just me and the cat,” says Haney.
