  • "#30 C.Singleton," spray-painted in bright red adorns the cement tire-stop of an empty parking space at Chillicothe High School. In a full parking lot, every possible slot closest to the school’s entrance is taken up. It is surprising to find this prime slot, on the straightest line possible to the doors, left untouched. Pats from friends rain on his back as he walks through the hallway to his lockers, girls stealing glances at him as he walks by them.

Clinton Singleton, a senior star running back, shies away from the usual adjectives of arrogant, cocky, smug, egotistic, full of himself and a whole string of others usually used to describe a jock.

Not only excelling in the games of football, baseball and basketball, he is also academically sound, and dedicated in everything that he sets out to do. A good-natured boy who loves and respects the elderly, he strives to be a large-animal vet someday.

Clinton Singleton, or Clint as his friends and family affectionately call him, carries an aura of confidence. Those around him are naturally infected by it.
