TJ Panula, a 28-year-old percussionist, came to Hermann in 2001. He passed up a life "on the road" to settle down and have a family. He chose to be a music teacher in a place where he can enjoy the rural life rather than that in his hometown of St. Louis.
He is now the band director at Hermann High School and adjoining Hermann Middle School. He created the "Musical Explosion" performance group and started the popular jazz band. "I hope to start a good music tradition in this town," said Mr Panula
