First Street, once known as Front Street, used to be a thriving avenue of commerce. Due to changing times and the opening of a nearby super store, many of those shops no longer exist. Only memories survive of the several clothing stores and other small businesses of yesteryear. The storefronts still are occupied but many now target Hermann’s tourism industry. Life still goes on, perhaps though a little slower than before.
